Cod4boards will be gone. But the forums will remain the same on a different domain with a different name.
it will either be
codgrounds.com
or
thecodforums.com
both have plus and minuses about the name.
To me:
codgrounds.com = gritty. "grounds" not just a forum but a place for battle and info
thecodforums.com = "THE"codforums. The only and best place to get all your COD info

and this is what people don't seem to understand about our view on gaming (not that you're implying it)
I don't think rushing is some sort of moral apex, it just makes for a more fun gaming experience for everyone
all one has to do is say: "remember COD4"
everyone says "I LOVED THAT GAME"
it wasn't the game, it was the community and how it didn't sit in corners

Domain change is done.
Now I just need to get the wording at the top of the graphic changed.
I want it to say something that emphasizes the "The" at the beginning.
"The"codforums.com
Your one stop shop for all things COD
"THE"codforums.com
Your one stop shop for all things COD
thecodforums.com
"The" number one source for all things COD
Something like those.

I did not know that. They are replacing the bg image, with what, I know not. I offered to make one or find one but I think they want to make sure that it does not have any copyrights.
The banner is changing as well to something less specific. I sent in:
THECODFORUMS.COM
"THE" Source For COD, Gaming Discussion and Friends.

As long as you stick to the public COD images you will not get called on Copyrights. If anything you are advertising COD for them.

I don't think anybody has made a fuss about it over on C4B. not a single thread about the name change.

There fixed it.
I think if the forum members could just for a minute take a step back and consider the site and how it not only impacts their lives but how they impact the site, understand what is trying to be done and if not be helpful at least not hinder with asinine comments...
They might see things differently.

Walk - You are the boss. Not the friend. While Moderators get a pass and can seem all buddy buddy. They can be lax in certain situations (which ALL moderators were guilty of when I was their)... YOU have to rule with an ironfist.
What you say goes. They dont like it tough.
The name change was eventually going to happen. Either that, or the site got taken down.

I remember Boards consulting people. But then he'd do what he wanted anyway. Kinda like the Roman Empire...listen to the senate, then tell em to get fucked.

is this permanent, btw, is Boards not coming back?
(that actually would be a good thing, in my eyes)

Irritated becasue I responded to this and hit send and it did not show up. But I will try to remember what I said.
The difference between here and there though is that all of you like each other. Sure there are times when arguments or not really arguments but differences happen and they get resolved without bitterness. there is also the whole maturity aspect where people understand that even though there are differences of opinion that does not make or break a friendship or being civil.
It was something to that effect.

It is as Ik0n put it "a step in the right direction". And yes Syn, I also understand that but it is not like I have ever been real buddy buddy with those that are left who are not enamored with the change anyway. You are also correct in where the site stands. It would not be a loss for iEntry to take down the site. So if it had not been taken over eventually the site would have become a nuisance with issues and spam to where it would have been shut down.

As this is new to me I am trying to include the mods in everything that I can. Nothing against boards but I think he just did not want to get too close to anyone and thus only really discussed things that were trivial. Not sure again as I never really spoke to him. I definitely see where he took ideas from the mods and tried to talk to iEntry and they had other ideas. I think also that boards was very to the point and liked to keep his interaction to a minimum.
I am not sure where boards stands. I know that he is working on other things that are more lucrative for him and I cannot see him giving those up.Chisa wrote:is this permanent, btw, is Boards not coming back?

I guess what it comes down to -and I am loathe to say it as these things have a way to bite me in the ass- if I had not taken admin the site would be closed down. Whether it took a few more weeks or a couple of months after BO2 I do not know. But regardless of what traffic BO2 would bring without an admin to move forums and do things that mods cannot the operations would stall and the site would have then needed someone from the people who own the domains to work on it and it would just not be worth it to them.
EDIT: ^^ I know this because I have discussed it with them.

Just as I was about to ask if you are speculating on the facts you stated - I seen your edit.
Cod4boards averages most of its hits because of Bots scanning the News Section (which is essentially a RSS FEED reporting from other sites).
The average amount of gamers visiting has been decreasing steadily - is my guess. BO2 may bring a resurgence. However, does iEntry have any other BO2 forums? I remember they created some new forums for MW3 awhile back.

Not sure I will have to ask them. But looking at the site map it would seem that they do not. All of the domains they have available I think I saw yesterday or the day before and I think that I had chosen the two that best would help the site. I wanted to move away from the number scheme. And none were titled BO or such with I think the closest being cod8forums.com
