Just got back from a splurge day at Academy. Picked up a new protein mix from Cytogainer. Its called Monster Milk. A step up from their muscle milk, sposed to be anabolic booster, lean gainer and stacked with protein per serving. Was a few $$ higher than the muscle formula.
Also ordered these 2, waiting 3-5 for them to come in. Still need a hack squat or leg press machine and a cardio piece and I'll be ready to build my dojo gym outside.
Dip/pushup station. Had one on the floor, comfortable spread and the ring push ups are tough.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Hyper extension/ oblique machine. Because my lower back and mid section is the softest and most neglected areas.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Edit: and a pair of 65lb dumbells. Forgot until hauling them in. 1 arm row was accomplishing nothing repping out 10 with the 55s. Shrugs weren't heavy enough and dumbell bench was mentally too light. Being the last set was with 80s back in gym days.

As I approach 40, I'm happy to be an ecto. All my peers who are endos and meso's are chubbing up.
Even the ones who had the physiques' I aspired to.
Back when I was lifting, and a few pounds shy of 200lbs, I knew that the mass would just melt away, and not just change form.
My mentality through my 20's and early 30's has changed as I close out this decade of years. Strength and definition, not size.
This keeps my body free of pain and mind free of the discouraging fact that mass isn't what my body wants, or is able to maintain.
I fought my way to 200, and fought harder to stay there.
Ain't even remotely interested in walking that road again.

Question for you health gurus: how many calories would you GUESS I'm burning? I'm loading 3 trucks in the morning from anywhere between 3 1/2 to 4 hours, lifting between 750-1250 boxes per day with a weight varying from 0-150 pounds. I just guesstimated it on a calorie counter and it said I was burning over 2000 calories. Is this possible?! And if so, I know why I'm not gaining as much muscle as I thought. CALORIE DEFICIENCY.

It is a bit more gritty than the Muscle formula. Better with milk than water and there is sand like granules at bottom of cup, guessing a creatine based and this is left over settling to bottom. Not sure about repair or stomach issues as its only been 2 glasses so far.
Moose, that sounds like a workout in its own. You should be losing weight just showing up to work.

I've lost a considerable about of weight. I'm slimming down great, but I have noticed a lack of muscle build. Don't get me wrong, there is some, but not as much as I thought. And yes I know I can't bulk while cutting, but just saying I feel there should be some. Any thoughts Kazzamer/Cheesepuff?

You're doing so much activity, that you'd have to really increase your calories to get swole, my advice is to add more protein, or cut down on the amount of cardio
A lot of calories (and protein) plus lifting heavy, will get you big
Eating at maintanence or lower with a lot of cardio, will blast the body fat away
To do both requires a perfect diet balance

People think gaining muscle is easy ( the classic, "I don't want to lift weights because I don't want to bulk up...").
Moving boxes, no matter how heavy, will make you stronger, but it likely won't get you much to show off at the beach. Granted, you are going to build a bit of muscle in the process (like at a stone mason's grunt....wheel barrowing stones all day gives them huge traps, forearms and a realy strong back), but muscle needs a whole lotta sht to build.
I know there is this myth circulating that carbs are so evil, but, I didn't start to really bulk up until I was eating 2 - 3x my daily recommended values for everything.
Muscle won't grow much when it's carb deprived.
Period.
It might grow a bit, but it's not the ideal diet for putting on muscle.
You'd be hard pressed to see any body builder or serious muscle-mass building program that doesn't see a generous portion of carbs all day e'rr day.
I know you're on low carb, and I'm betting your body is just grabbing fuel from anywhere it can. Muscle is going to be a source of energy if you're not giving it the nutrients it needs.
There is a fair amount of literature supporting the notion that the faster the fat loss, the faster the muscle loss.
I'd get onto Bodybuilding.com and ask someone more in the know than me in this.

Well I'm not as low carb as I was. I've started eating brown rice with lunch so that's a fair portion of carbs right there. Toast in the morning and right before a workout. Had no idea I was burning that amount of calories from just work (assuming its correct). I'm eating a good bit of protein. I tell you what I'll do. I'll make a montage of my meals for the day and let you and Cheeseball critique it and see what you think.

Well, I'd just say that with that kind of exertion, eat something every hour, at least. Granola bar, apple, yogurt...but have your regularily scheduled meals.
Gotta know what your desired outcome is.
I know weight loss was your goal for a lot of this, but focus less on weight and agree upon an appearance you like, then shift gears when your objective changes.
\Maybe it's time yuo hung up the runners for a bit and dedicated the time to weight training?
You can't be burning calories all day, then in your spare time, go do more of that and expect the body to want to keep anything around that'll slow it down.
I'd say make running be a 1-2 mile thing a few times a week (at most), but put the other hours into weights.

Well I know P90X is cardio based and really focuses on getting lean. Well, I'm getting lean by losing weight. I only run once a week (on Friday) and twice if I have a run on the weekend. I will be joining a gym soon, but until I figure out where Ill be living (once my promotion goes through) I don't want to join one in the event they don't have the same branch if I have to move somewhere.

for all the activity you're doing, you definitely need carbs to refill your glycogen stores to keep your muscles working properly, especially if you're looking to grow, add in lifting heavy and definitely don't skip the carbs. If you don't have the glycogen ready to roll when you need it, your body goes after fat and muscle for energy, which is contradictory to wanting to gain
40/30/30 ratio of protein/carbs/fat is typical for someone looking to bulk up a bit

Do either of you think it's remotely possible to burn THAT MANY calories just from work based on the figure I presented?

absolutely
with all the work you're doing, on a clean diet, I bet you'd be fine eating 3500 to 4000 calories, maybe even more if you're looking to really add muscle

Wow. Like I said, I'll make a video log of what I eat every day (it's the same so you won't be bombarded with vids) and let you guys critique. I'm ready to get on the weights. I love P90X, but it's time to get a little mass going to make the lean figure really show.

bring it
p90x is a fantastic way to get in shape, but if you're looking for muscle, I'd stay away from it
look at Otis' routine for instance, dude is getting swole doing a 5x5 program

On I know it's not the way for bulk. I wanted to get somewhat lean (which I feel I have) now I want to put a little mass on for beach season.

No excuses, carb up and find energy in an hour. Days in 100 degree heat, or 12 + hours, or leg day. Those are excusable reasons.

its easier to burn off fat than it is to put on muscle.
bulk first (eat everything in sight and lift heavy weight) then cut the fat right before summer.
cutting sucks, you lose some strength, lose energy, etc, but you have to keep lifting heavy and keep your protein intake high to protect the muscle you put on. lifting heavy while cutting tells your body (we are in a calorie deficit, but this dude is always lifting heavy shit. we need to keep the muscle).

My mind says yes and body says .. pth f cardio.
Mentally trying to 'bulk' not fatten through cold months and when it gets warmer, will hit the track. Jan is here and gone, never ran. Feb will fly by, it'll average 60 degrees. March will be river season and 80 + degrees, won't find time to run. June is about the end of outside cardio, that humidity has killed people. Can't breathe in water vapor.
