I Need To Have My Wisdom Teeth Pulled

This is a big deal for me. So last month I had an abscess tooth on left upper molar, I thought eff I brush I floss I get regular cleaning and when needed that deep root plane cleaning for certain areas that are missed by flossing, brushing and mouth wash.
Then, I don't know maybe Sunday late day I start to feel a soreness on the opposite side of my mouth. I thought maybe I scratched the gum or something. Well this morning at 2 I woke up with this serious pain, the whole side of my face throbbing and I realized that this abscess is in the same area except on the right side of my mouth. I call my dentist at home and I am informed that not only is it 3AM but that he is on vacation.
So after the initial fleeting thought of flying to wherever he is and demanding he pull my teeth I figured I would go to the emergency room. Then I realized that wisdom teeth are not a small deal and that there may be a chance that I would have to go under anesthetics.
So I think of the next best thing and I go to the vet hospital and talk to one of the vets who is my friend. The following is the conversation we had:
Dr. McStuffyPants: Hi Vic.
Me: grunt.
Her: What's up... you don't look so hot.
Me: I have an infection in my gum line that is affecting my tooth.
Her: Where?
Me: Wisdom tooth.
Her: Wait you still have your wisdom teeth? How old are you?
ME: Stare.
Her: Right, what are you doing here you should see a doctor.
Me: Stare, mischievous grin.
Her: Stare. (and in a not to stern voice but one not overly sympathetic to my plight) "I am not pulling your tooth."
Me: Teeth.
Her: What?
Me: Teeth. I want you to pull both.
Her: What! No, I am not pulling your teeth.
Me:eff. EFFFFF!
Me: A dog and cat take Propofol 6 mg/kg IV so bump me down to 5.4. Propofol me, do the deed and then reverse it.
Her: You know Propofol can have an adverse effect on your reproductive system.
Me: Scoff, huh, in that case give me extra.
Her: I am not pulling your teeth.
Me: Didn't I let you borrow my car for your BIG date with Mr. grill work. And when you went to San Francisco how much did that classy hotel cost? Oh wait you stayed in the apartment. And did I not give you half my bologna sandwich last weekend when you told me you were starving.
Her: Seriously, bologna sandwich.
Me: I am grasping at straws here.
Her: Stare.
Me: To much?
Her: Just a bit.
Me: I am not playing Splinter Cell with you tonight.
Her: Fine.
Me: Fine.
*Pause*
Her: So, 4 PM?
ME: Yeah. You better bring ice cream.
So then I proceeded to do what I did last time which was to grad a pair of hemostats and a 15 blade and puncture and drain the abscess. Which 10 minutes later felt better and now I cannot hardly tell that it was there.
*Note I was just messing with her (and she knew it) and there is no way I would have her pull my teeth.

Get your antibiotics, give em a few days and just deal with the ridiculous pain. Don't rip them teeth out with infection below it.
We're the same age, just went through that crap 2 months ago. Horrible feeling with 0 comfort for days. Pills didn't so shit

I'm getting mine out in June. I heard they give plenty of painkillers and stuff and you just eat ice cream for a week.

Mine weren't bad. I had two impacted, those were the worst healing. The holes still aren't filled in (takes 6 months and food likes to get in there) but no pain after 3 days. They give you big prescription Ibuprofen as well as some hardcore pain killers to take as needed (I didn't even need those since the Ibu was good enough). Try to keep it clean and take all the antibiotics!

We don't ask a vet to do it, who we really don't want to do it. Then start operating on ourselves. Then post on a gaming forum, all without the actual input of a dentist...

Don't y'all wait till they have problems as an adult? We just chose to have mine taken out since I had two impacted which could spell trouble later in life (I mean "we" as in me, my parents, AND my dentist who recommended I get them out since my bottom two were covered in bone and were starting to swell)

I never had trouble with them. Twice a year they would get sore but nothing bad, just tender and had to chew on other side. Then they just went cray and flared up like never before. Went from starting to swell, to massive pain, to couldn't open mouth in hours. Made appt to be seen ASAP, pulled them out a week later.
Have talked to 3-4 people since then who right at 30 had issues.

My dentist said the earlier you get them out the easier it goes since the roots and stuff aren't fully developed. Was kind of a lame spring break but at least I know I won't have to do that again.

You been reading too much daily mail walk? Jesus Christ.
And probably shouldn't get into the whole 'what the world views each other as' while we're at it.

Wow, that's some pro level anti NHS propaganda
The NHS has the UK ranked higher in healthcare quality vs. the US, while being 26th in expenditure per capita (US is #1 in that department)

They brain washed.
My total bill was $1500 and some change. On top of my monthly payments, they sent me a bill owing $435 of that amount. I send $100 and they send passive aggressive note back saying that's not full payment lol

In order to point out the ridiculous one must spout out the ridiculous. Anyway it was more because I go to a few sites that are in based in the UK and all I hear towards the US members and surprisingly against the Australian members is how effed up we are. Just kind of finally hit me because I was not expecting it from here. Anyway I fixed it.Chisa wrote:Wow, that's some pro level anti NHS propaganda
