Nice. 35 fish better than me!
I didn't bother trying this weekend. Big super moon tide swings and wind all week have the bay looking like chocolate milk. Small craft advisory on the coast.
That fish finder looks familiar. Got an older model on my kayak.

More of a structure finder. Almost essential for finding reefs and staying within legal depth while rockfishing.

You fishin freshwater Alpha?
I never was a freshwater person, only fished it at this sandpit awhile back. we'd catch a bass almost with every cast on artificials.
I went out today to my Redfish hole. caught some rat reds, baby drums, catfish, stingrays, and some croakers. Also, this was the first time I've seen some black-tip sharks caught out there.

Would love to fight something bigger than a 2-3 lb catfish. Besides the 2ft garfish, or the big ass gaspagoo/shoepick. That's all freshwater. Good thing, if fish ain't biting just drop your crab traps and take home a few dozen.

In extreme tragic news, a co-worker was killed yesterday fishing one of his bass tournys. Gonna be a tough day tomorrow, been knowing him 12 yrs since I started.

If I remember correctly, it was around 22 lbs. The smaller one was 19lbs.

Left at 1 because the sun was baking us. Slow day, maybe 50 total.
Brim, chinquapin, sac a lait, catfish, goggle eye.
Threw 3 gar fish back after beating them, bastards kept hitting the bait trying to reel away from em.

That's fresh water spoils, quantity over size.
We didn't catch a fish until probably 8am, launched at 6:30. The Mississippi is dumping into the spillway so every canal was straight mud. We found 1 that the water was visible and caught 40 without moving the boat. They stopped biting and we went to 3 canals over the next hour without catching another.

Oh and I got bit by a mudcat, them bastards have some extreme jaw pressure. We throw em back, big fat heads and all brown, not good for eating. Of course they swallow the hook. I stuck my finger in to open mouth and it clamped down, I hollered. Have had grey cats 3xs that size bite and not hurt as much. Ain't no way in hell I would try to noodle a 20lb mud cat with my arm.

So, everyone at work fishes, at least a little.
Found out today the boss booked us all a spot on a salmon charter this Saturday. Stoked. I'd never pay for that shit myself. Also a possible Albacore trip in the near future, too.
I'm gonna need a bigger cooler lol.

fuckin mud cats are a pain in the ass. I usually just throw them up on the bank and leave them there.
2 weekends ago I was down at the beach. Took the boat down and was drifting the channel in the Assowoman Bay. Landed 3 Flounders all over 22 inches.
I haven't done nearly enough fishing this year.

Well, that salmon trip was pretty uneventful. First one to hit the deck was a 33 pound slug. Thought for sure that would set the tone for the day, but no. Another 25 pounder hit right after, then the bite died. We ended the day with three (last was a barely legal 22 incher). I had to settle for a scratched bait.
Looks like the season is winding down early. The entire fleet had a tough day. Best boat had six, and a few had 0.
Definitely cool of the Boss to get us out there, though. Got him a sixer of Racer5 as a thank you. Sounds like Albacore are still a possibility.
Only took one picture all day. Ain't got time to take pictures of some strangers fish lol. This was on the way out, just after passing under the GoldenGate...

Went rockfishing yesterday. Closest I'll get to Alpha numbers. A dozen or so Lings, including a personal best

Baitfish were so thick in some spots it blacked out the fishfinder. Schools of these black rockfish were hammering the baitfish. Couldn't get my bait to the bottom without one of them hitting it for awhile. Hooked 8 or 9 before moving away from the school.

Fog never lifted all day. Couple guys who launched with us ended up getting lost and landing on another beach a few miles north. Had to hitch hike back down the highway to get their truck.

Went out in San Pablo Bay today, looking for stripers. Trolled a couple miles before hooking up, then switched over to throwing a swimbait. Stayed on the school all day once I found them. Final tally was 34 fish. Was trying for 40, but the bite died late in the outgoing tide. No size to any of them, but damn that was fun. By far my favorite gamefish.

boat is winterized. Can't take the boat down to the condo because they are re-doing the dock this fall and winter. So went ahead and got the boat ready for the winter. Season came to a crash hault when I got the news that they've torn the docks out.

That sucks. Hopefully work will be completed by spring.
One of the reasons I love the kayak. Launch wherever the eff I want. No way I could match your mobility, though.
