If MS loses NA, they are fucked. I am not sure if the above map is a weird way to teach people geography or it is all blue because PS4 is winning world wide.

Dedicated servers for what?

Will Xbox One use dedicated servers for multiplayer games?
Yes. Microsoft has 300,000 servers in place for the Xbox One's launch and games are no longer hosted on a player's own Xbox console. If you've ever felt the frustration of a multiplayer match ending because the host switched their console off, prepare to be thankful it'll not happen anymore.

Impossible. No way can they host servers for every game on the XBOX one. There is some sort of drawback or fineprint that we are not reading.
For example from that same extremely biased article:
Sure it has 8gb of ram. What they do not tell you is the RAM being used is DDR3 not DDR5(Playstation's). They also failed to mention that 3gb of the ram is going to be used for the OS and the Apps on the console (If you still want to call of that) leaving 5gb of ram for games. Compare that to the rumors of PS only using 1gb of ram for OS and 7gb of ram for games.
Most of everything has a twist in the truth of it all. Do not listen or believe what you read to a degree until the product is launched and can be seen by consumers.

What are the specifications of the Xbox One?
It has an eight-core AMD CPU, and Microsoft has claimed the console delivers eight times the graphics performance of the Xbox 360. The system also has 8GB of RAM (same as the PlayStation 4) and a 500GB hard drive. It uses Blu-ray discs for games instead of DVDs.

#42518Why does everyone insist on spreading the idea that GDDR5 is fundamentally better than DDR3? DDR3 is better suited for CPU calculations, GDDR5 for graphics rendering. I think it's indicative of microsoft betting on next-gen relying more on advanced AI and persistent worlds + higher levels of interactivity, vs Sony focusing more on the graphics capability.
EDIT: Also, having seen that the GPU has its own ("blazing fast") dedicated RAM, spec-wise the Xbox One should be superior to the PS4...the PS4 (from what we've been told at least) has 8gb of GDDR5 RAM shared between CPU and GPU. This means the RAM used for graphics is great, but for the CPU it's less than optimal. The Xbox will have that same 8gb, optimal for the CPU and usable for the GPU if it's needed (granted, some will be used by the app system), PLUS have this faster RAM dedicated to the GPU.
I would write something similar, but I seen someone else wrote this on kotaku. Which is true.

The next-generation consoles haven’t even hit the market yet, but the Internet already has an endless list of complaints. Some of these worries, like DRM restrictions and always-online concerns, are genuinely valid, but many are just an excuse to complain.
Now, most of the time, I can just ignore people’s nitpicky concerns, but, for some reason, one complaint in particular is starting to grate on my nerves: backwards compatibility.
The thing is, backwards compatibility isn’t something that console developers have ever been concerned with. The SNES wasn't backwards compatible with the NES. The GameCube wasn't backwards compatible with the N64. The Genesis wasn't backwards compatible with the Master System. And the Saturn wasn't backwards compatible with the Genesis. You get the idea.
Sure, Sony and Microsoft were kind enough to give us access to our old gaming libraries when the PS2 and Xbox 360 came out, but that certainly wasn’t normal.
More Special Features...
The fact is, backwards compatibility handcuffs console functionality and drives the per-unit price up. Just because the last generation of consoles was generous enough to allow you to play all of your favorite caveman games doesn't mean that we should expect it from future consoles. If you want developers to break new ground, you can't keep insisting that they're trying to screw you when they phase out the old technology. You can’t have it both ways.
Sure, maybe some games will be ported to next-gen consoles—we saw a lot of HD remakes in the last gen—but if it does happen, don't try to wag your all-knowing finger in the developer’s face and accuse them of stealing your hard earned money. First of all, your parents gave you that money, so try not to take credit for earning it. Second, the research and development that goes into porting a game deserves to be rewarded.
And if you still can't get behind the next generation's lack of backwards compatibility, just keep your current system(s) around. They'll still work just fine on all of your old games.
Can we all stop complaining now?

OK, so some insider at MS posted that they are having a hard time getting their APU (which is the combo chip of CPU + GPU + 32MB eSRAM for cache). That chip, which is similar to Sony's PS4 APU, has a whopping 5 BILLION transistors, with over 1 Billion of those dedicated to the eSRAM. The yields are supposedly under 2%, so only 2% of the chips made are actually usable. Sony's APU doesn't use the eSRAM and simply went with a custom APU that has a better GPU than the Xbone and they are not having problems with production. Also, MS seems to be having overheating issues ala the Xbox 360 early models.
So what is MS gonna do? If they want to ship the same time as PS4 before Christmas, they are probably going to have to downclock the GPU and thus get less performance. This does not look good, even the biggest MS fans are bummed. MS was hurt badly by Sony's blindside to use GDDR5 RAM for their system. MS was using DDR3 (which is about 5x's slower), so they added the eSRAM like they did on the 360 to get extra framebuffer for almost resource free anti-aliasing. Sony only had 2GB of GDDR5 until last year, when they doubled it to 4GB. All games for PS4 were built with 4GB of RAM in mind, but right before the reveal, they doubled again to 8GB. Even their main 1st party developers had no idea about the 8GB.
If you really want to do a lot of reading and not just have my condensed version, here you go: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=576869
==============
Now what does this mean? PS4 is more powerful, we already know that even without a downclock of the GPU. PS4 is almost guaranteed to have better multiplatform games, reversing the current gen trend of MS getting the love. PS4 is just more powerful, devs can use higher resolution or *GASP* 60FPS on it.

Sony played them just like MS played Sony back in the 360 development. Sony was making the Cell with IBM, and MS gets IBM to make a custom chip based on the Cell's control. So the 360's chip ended up being a 3-core Cell PPE with no SPU's (which is what the PS3 uses for processing). So the 360 ended up having a way easier to program for CPU while Sony was stuck with a single core PPE that designed to feed data to the 7 SPU's.
It looked like Sony was giving up the high end with only 2GB of RAM (MS always planned for 8, their bloated 3 Operating System approach to the Xbone necessitated it, so DDR3 is what they planned on since back in 2007 when development started, GDDR5 wasn't even to market). Sony took a HUGE gamble starting with GDDR5, but they won big as AMD and Nvidia started using it for their graphics cards. Then yields on GDDR5 improved, so there were able to match Xbone's 8GB - except the DDR3 Xbone can only give 33 GB/s, while the GDDR5 in PS4 can do 176GB/s. The Xbone's GPU simply can't be fed fast enough by the RAM. MS really needs Kinect and TV to take off, because their word-of-mouth ads won't be good. Game reviewers are going to probably use PS4 for their reviews, kinda like the 360 is used today.
=============
Honestly, the Xbone isn't a gaming device. It's a fancy cable box with a camera that happens to play games.
Oh, PS4 price reveal probably next week at E3. I'm hoping to get one around launch.

but they f**ked up the internal architecture, which means most studios didn't feel like putting the time in to get that shit right when programming
now, it's went a more straight forward design (like a pc/xbox)

The CPU was, but it was fricking impossible to code for. 360 had a better GPU.
Now, they both use x86 CPUs, which are the standard (Windows runs on x86, Intel and AMD chips are all x86). So they are both easy to program for, and both have the same exact CPU. However, PS4 has a way more powerful GPU than Xbone. And it also has more bandwidth to feed the GPU. If a GPU doesn't have memory bandwidth to feed it, it's useless. The Xbone is fed by DDR3, PS4 is fed by GDDR5 (which is what all high end GPU's are fed by these days).
Xbone was created with TV in mind, as Chisa's video pointed out.
=============
So yes, both are using a PC architecture. Xbone is using an odd one though, with the extra eSRAM that is now causing yield and heat issues. PS4 is just beefier. Even MS fans say that.

If you have watched MS's conferences the past few years, they really want the casual market that Nintendo owns. They want the TV crowd, the "wave your hands in the air to play a game" crowd.
