Just got done with a 6 mile run. Absolutely thrilled that I finished without stopping and wasn't even winded after.

You're excused from running right now. Scrambling through 19 feet if snow is tough.

the goal is to eventually make it to the 100lb dumbbells and then switch back to barbell.

Advice when first pulling those bad boys off the rack...it looks silly, but try doing sets with wraps.
They really help with initial stabilization....not the press.

hmmmm i dont think so.
if i have to get rid of the weight, i dont want to break my elbows because they were wrapped to the dumbbell.

Wraps give way when you let go. The hardest part of the dumbell press was knees to chest before starting, destroyed shoulders trying to curl those puppies. Had to start sitting 90 degrees and using a knee bump to get the weight in motion.

What Alpha said.
It's not like you're duct taped to them, and it's not like ya wanna roll out the 120's for the first time on your own.
As you creep from your rep weight into, say 120's, they get really long. Helps with stability until you have a solid feel for things.
