OK, so, no, nothing can kill and Aston Martin....but I'm taking a serious liking to this car.
The Jaguar XKR
You can get a brand new XKR for around 100k, pimped right out.
You might be able to find a 2007 Aston for that much.

Yeah, I wasn't able to find any good pics this morning.
We have a used car website and there is actually a 2010 pimped right out, black paint, tinted windows and black 20" rims.
$102 000.
Still a buttload of money, but compared to an equivalent AM, it's more than 50% cheaper, and still a pretty hot azz car.
Might try to get some of those pics up later on.

that's a shit load of depreciation for a car worth more than $100K.
Jaguars don't hold much value once they leave the seller, and neither do Aston Martins since no one in America drives one, but probably 100 people who can afford one.
Seen one douche drive around in one on our highway. Haven't seen another since. Not even in our wealthiest city, Bethesda would you see any of these cars other than BMW's and Benz. lol.

i see these regular in the UK(probably because its a UK car)
but history shows us the jag that follows the aston is always better, i dunno why just is.
its like a rule of thumb if an aston is released(from the wild) then its the jag after you want

All cars generally depreciate 15-20% in their first year, so the depreciation amount is going to be proportionate to the initial value of the vehicle.
A $200 000 Aston Martin is going to depreciate upwards of $40 000 in it's first year, leaving it worth a "meagre" $160 000. Whereas the BMW M3, at $70 000 retail, will lose maybe $14 000, giving it a year 2 value of $56 000.
We're looking at some vehicles right now in the 2-4 year old range, with ~20 000 - 30 000 miles on them. Originally, as new vehicles, they were valued anywhere between $70 000 and $110 000. I'd never pay that because I don't want to lose so much money....but the depreciation follows somewhat of an inverted law of dimishing returns, where the losses plateau and value is there.
The XKR starts around $100 000 cdn. A 2 year old one can be nabbed for around $50-60K, with maybe 15 000 miles.
A BMW M5 starts around the same...maybe $80k. 2 year old models are out for close to half that.
Pretty reasonable.
But people who buy new cars don't care about the depreciation, otherwise they wouldn't be buying new. And people spending $200 000+ on a car are likely ones who want the car and dont' care one bit about what it's going to be worth when they buy the brand new model year 12 months later.
AM's hold their values pretty well after the 3 year mark...as do most vehicles as long as the mileage isn't being racked up through the sky.
In terms of the aesthetic of the XKR, I find it so close to the Aston that it could easily be mistaken for one.

A honda accord holds more value...lol.
Not really worth my cup of tea to spend $200K on luxery sports cars.
Actually, I would prefer a high end gallardo or a 911. but thats just me.

Oh yeah, we all have our own preferences.
I drive a Honda Civic because at $17 000 brand new, with a 2 year old resale currently at around $14 000, you can't go wrong.
I love exotics, and would pick an exotic over anything, if we're talking 100k +.
For an all around "do it all" I'd see myself in a BMW M5....it's the perfect mix.
It'll run with a Gallardo but sit in the mall parking lot without dbags leaning on it for photo ops. It can be a family car, or a night out with friends vehicle. You can find maintenance in pretty much any city, and count on it still being a reliable care after 60 000miles....which I can't say about the Jag or the AM.
