Are rushers a dying breed ?

I dont really understand why but camping is now generally seen as a legit and viable tactic by the community to the point now where you get hatemail or mocked for running or moving.
I don't really see myself as a rusher as to me that is just playing the game and enjoying it, just playing the game it's obvious that camping has become a much larger issue than it ever has been and you tube is being bombarded with high kd camping games that the kids are lapping up.
Do these kids not realise they will never improve by hiding in corners ?

no, they don't realize it, because they see no need for improvement. The game has made camping a viable strategy to getting good scores (in TDM at least). If you're playing objective games, look out for 5 people trying to be the "slayer" and camping for kills while one random may put on ghost and try and get an objective.
There used to be a certain pride in the community that was quite obvious in COD4 that prevented a lot of people from playing like dirty little ass cracks, but thanks to the youtube community, that has gone away. Now, there's no shame in looking out a window for as many kills as you can get without moving an inch.
That's where we come in. We talk sh*t in the lobbies until they leave, beat the piss out of them, and try and humiliate them as much as possible.

Its not going to die as long as good communities like us expose them to an ass whooping.
When playing solo, yeah, its common. But with a good team (on either console) who can rush effectively, its barely noticeable.

To me nothing beats getting up close and personal either by going in head on to see how much damage you can get away with or getting in behind them as nothing quite beats that moment of having a full clip and have 5+ people lined up with no idea whats about to happen. I love the begining of groundwar as i sprint non stop to hit them head on not expecting me with metal playing in my ears and a spas ready to go.
The way i play is i will see you in the open and may the best man win.

great point
very good feeling, taking the long way around with marathon pro on, getting behind their spawn, and wiping out 4 or 5 before they even know what hit them due to them looking down the sights towards where they think you'll be coming from

Blame WoR, and Seananners....and every other 1337 gamer who rose to fame because they never moved, and just killed what was placed in front of them.
They are the equivalent of the proud zoo hunter.
Yeah, you killed he sh!t out of that tiger in the cage, but that doesn't mean you're a good hunter.
The rise of the d-bag came when killstreaks stacked, and people were rewarded for hiding for 25 kills, with 85% of the kills coming from AI streaks.
Their game was hinged soloely on the good nature of the community who still played with integrity--they just fed these opportunistic h0m0s kill after kill, reducing the rusher-to-be into a cautious player, and further solidifying the elite beliefs the camper had of his playstyle.
Eventually, the cycle produced corner camping, window hanging, bush hiding, ground-shadow laying, kill-and-move, kill-and-move players who's sole aim was to put up big KD numbers with a total disregard for objectives and victories.
Can't count the numbers of Machinima videos I saw there the guy lost, even though he went an "incredible" 85-2 in domination--WITH NO CAPTURES.
Kids in my era who liked basketball, grew up as sportsmen and ambassadors of the game, because they watched and learned from Michael Jordan. Now they watch this current crop of @ssholes and become like them. What they see is what they learn. What seems to bring success, they aspire to and copy.
It doesn't hurt, however, that camping is so fcking easy to do. ADS'ing is without risk and without unpredictability. It's safe and it normally produces great results--otherwise it woudl be a dying strategy.

culture of laziness, you nailed it Kaz
I hate losing, so when I started with COD4, I got my ass whipped by straight up rushers. Went to C4B for advice on how to get better, met the A list rushers we all learn from. My competitive instinct kicked in and I decided to work my ass of to get better. That didn't mean sitting in a corner, it meant out moving and out thinking the other side.
This is not something the general gamer understands.

kaz has hit it spot on. it's not about getting better anymore. it's about those precious stats. the less work you can do to get a higher kd is what is considered "improving" at the game now.
**** machinima i say.

If connection allows, I can stay consistent with a 4+ KD. But I rush. I hate standing around, and I hate watching a kill cam with an asshole ADS'ing.
Just did a game of DOM. Went Sandy Ravage on that shit going 47-16. Clan Tag: LOL

BO didn't help out by advertising everyone's KDR to the entire lobby following the game. Obviously, people could do the mental math before, but it didn't make it look like it was a thing that mattered.
Now, people are super concerned about that ratio when the game is going, to avoid the shame when it's put up for all to see.
I just think they need to make kd irellevent in objective games....get points for kills, but leave the kd stats out/invisible/hidden whatever.

Man, I remember that argument from waay back.
Didnt' the mouthpiece go something like 7-3, waaaay at the bottom of the scorecard. He was yapping at someone way up top on our team--I think it was at scrubs. He went 23-19 or something like that, and the guy had the vagina to comment on having "done better" because his kdr was better.
Syn made me laugh last night bringing that sh1t back one time.
2-1.
Hey, I did better than you guys.
LMAO fo realz.
