I really can't say that there is that big of a difference.
In some of those clips, the older generation looked superior. And others the newer generation did.
These minute differences are what the entire industry capitalizes on every few years.
It's minutiae that only the real weenies give a sht about.
I watch my 1080 TVs in 480.
Ain't no thang.
I have some friends who "won't watch anything that isn't 1080"

I did notice that next gen doesn't have characters blending into backgrounds as much, but it's still a bland palette overall

as long as i can see, that's all that matters.
same when it comes to films and tv shows too.. i draw the line at shaky blurry cam copies though. just need to be able to watch it.
