Anyone try to give something you do daily or frequent enough that the body would fight you to stop?
Drinking, smoking, gambling, 6 hours of TV, etc
Threw dip can out few days ago, body making me eat constantly to find something to do. Nicotine junkie after 2-3 times a day for long time. Quit a few months with previous gf, when she was gone went right back to it.
Weird how body attaches itself to something foreign and makes you want it at the same times.

Not same thing. Quitting gaming all together would do be more same.

No but ive never really tried to quit anything like that. Itd be interesting to see if I could. Id imagine itd take great willpower for such a drastic change your body is so used to.

If I do it, I do it for a reason. Really do not give a **** about having two extra lame years in my life. I would rather enjoy what I have.
Mainly bad eating habits and not doing any exercise.
Give this a look, Alpha. I read many great reviews from people who tried this sub reddit. Ask around, look in some threads and share your progress.

Also, this one for E-cigs:

Some say the E-cig works, other say it does not. Maybe give it a try?

Been smoking off and on since I was 15. Know its bad for me, but I enjoy it. Have quit a couple times, staying away for up to three years. Then I bum one at a show or a bar, thinking one will be cool. Next day I'm buying a pack.

Got a health fair at work end of month. Check blood pressure, some possible cancer levels through blood, sugars, veins sonograms, flu shots, back posture, teeth, vision... spend some hours in there getting the basics looked at.
Caffeine drinks always has heart rate higher than it should. So trying to stop those and the tobacco. That's like $3-4 a day in pocket too, can't all be bad news.
Shouldn't be getting all schitzo homicidal like the girl on Evil Dead.

Stick with it Alpha!!! I wasn't trying to quit drinking, but I've lost the desire now. Haven't had a drop of alcohol in 3 days. I'm not saying that I will never have a beer again, but the desire to get drunk frequently has gone. It's amazing what all I've missed out on all these years LOL!

after my promotional exam, i am quitting chewing tobacco.
ive been doin it for 10 years and its to the point now where i go through a can a day, easy. when i was dating and living with the med student, i hid it from her for a whole year. when we went to NYC on vacation, i went 5 days without a dip. that was torture.

Anyone here see War,Inc? It had John Cusack and Hilary Duff. He had an addiction to Hot Sauces... he carried them around in a fancy briefcase with shotglasses. He would pull them out and take a shot.
Sounds like a badass addiction lol.

Hiding it lol. Been through all that. Dark bottles, in back of cabinets, check to see how long before she gets home to brush teeth. Worse is being around drinking or outdoors stuff. Fishing, cutting grass .... outdoors is for spitting on the ground.Otis wrote:after my promotional exam, i am quitting chewing tobacco.

Might trying chewing bath salts, less nicotine.

I think it takes 3-7 days for that headache to stop. The only caffeine does is put you back at normal level. I rather to not put how my day goes on weather I drank something or not.Syndrome wrote:I cant be without caffiene for too long. Day at most then I get a pounding headache.

I stopped smoking weed every a couple years back. Messed up my sleeping for a few weeks, other than that was ok. Now only smoke it occasionally with friends, no more sitting up watching documentaries or playing cod. Man I miss those days!
Stopped normal smoking when my son was born. Went a good 6 months, then with the stress of a wife with pnd and a 6 month old baby it came back.
Tried patches and e-cigarettes since then, with no joy. The main problem is that I like it. Only costs me £20 a week, so the money saving side of it isnt a massive deal

#50757Was addicted to watching TV 6 hours a day. Tv died never bought new one. It had me on my ass 6 hours a day and I was just getting fat. lol
My second addiction which will probably kill me is Sodas. I can easily drink 3 bottles a day. It's hard as **** to just have 1 bottle. All now I want one.
But the best thing I did was clean my frig out of all that junk and put bottles of water in there. Best ever.

COD was a big problem for me. Quit a few times before quitting for good.
I drink alcohol every day. Stopped that for long periods of time, but, can't figure out why I'd stop permanently, so, I'm still a casual drinker.
Other than that, I'm pretty good at quitting things that I know are bad for me. Some, just take longer and more tries than others. lol
Dropped a coke habit cold turkey, and that was tough, but, not impossible. The psychological addiction is definitely higher than the physical.

yeah, I was completely addicted to COD during the Mw2 and Bo1 days, fortunately, the games got a lot worse and broke my addiction somewhat easily
I would say I may have an addiction to sex, but I'm not quitting that

I've been trying to play less video games but then I started to make progress in Borderlands 2. I'm just a little noob Vault Hunter (level 12 commando). I played the game for 14 hours yesterday o.O.
I've tried quitting cigs, impossible. So I gave up on that.
I stopped smoking weed and drinking for almost 6 months. That didn't last. When my sister told us all that she got engaged, I went out and bought a big ass bag of the finest shrubbery and got her and her fiancee stoned as hell. Took them to Volt (that's Brian Voltaggio's restaurant) which I believe was nominated for a James Beard award. Long story short, I will never quit weed again. It's the perfect over the counter drug. It's like a Zantec but for your soul.
Alcohol on the other hand. I can bibge drink with the best of them and at the same time have 0 interest in drinking for months at a time. I'm the dude at parties rollin J's and tossing them around the room.

yeah in college i was a borderline alcoholic. 6 pack of tall boys every night. now i rarely drink because A. i value working out 5 days a week over being hungover 5 days a week. B. the hangovers are so bad now at my age, its debilitating.Kerzo wrote:I havent been drunk in almost 3 years, not because i wanted to quit just woke up one day after a messy night and thought "nah, im off it for a bit"

i might drink once a month and when i do, its top shelf booze like grey goose. that stuff doesnt give me hangovers.

Only thing I can think of is soda. I've always wanted to quit... never found a "replacement", I guess.
