So I took little Beau-jangles to the vet today to get the second set of shots. 2 weeks ago he weighed 17 pounds. Today he was 23. Dude is getting huge.
Well before his shots, the vet assistant comes in. She attempted to get a stool sample by prodding his pooper with some stick in which of course, he starts yelping (who wouldn't?). She proceeds to say, "Oh come on. I've had smaller dogs who didn't give me this much trouble." I ALMOST said, "Well how would you like it someone stuck something up your ass?" but stopped myself. And before you ask, she wasn't hot.

Hmm, I responded to this but it did not show up.
The device is called a fecal loop, was it light blue in color?
Anyway unless he has been having poopy issues we never ran fecals. Or if we needed one we sent the client home with a fecalyzer (fecal scoop). First and second shots are usually also the time you give them their deworming, usually Pyrantel Pamoate (Strongid) 1cc per 10lbs.
Don't forget heart worm medication. Though opt out of the test if they offer it as it takes 6 months for heartworms to show up on a snap test.

Yeah, light blue with a small oval at the end. Ever since out first lab passed away from heart worms, we always make sure we're up to date on that. He's been pooping like crazy, but he's also been eating like crazy.

How old is he? I always turned head and held their paw for the butt prod.
GF just walked in from vet. Shots, pooper swap, med stock up. 7 weeks, 13 lbs.
He also said alot of vets are getting away from the ear cutting. More and more and turning it down, they want to get the dogs back to original look.

The original Dobies had cropped ears because of what they were bred to do. I like the look and will always have their ears cropped. To each their own however.
Two books to check out.
I have this one it is good for giving a brief history.

Don't have this one but a cursory glance makes me think it might be okay.

I'm very surprised that you would have their ears cropped Walk.

Maiming an animal purely for aesthetic reasons doesn't seem to fit in with your personality of animal lover.

Spay, neuter, fatty lipoma removal, tail docking, ear cropping, dew claw removal...
EDIT: it got cut off or I did something so the rest did not show up. Anyway about the only mainstream surgery I have an issue with is de-clawing cats.
