The unfortunate truth that there are actual voters who only care about the race of the candidates.

There are an embarassing number still clinging to the belief that Obama isn't an American citizen.
I'd personally rather have some atheist from virtually any First World country lead America than a Mormon. Sht, even any mainstream Christian other than a Mormon.
Scientology is only slightly more fcked up than the LDS movement. And not by much. Take Tom Cruise away from scientology and they are at parity.

I don't get how anyone could vote for Romney. His economic policies are insane and his religious beliefs are even worse.

I don't think Obama did such a smash up job. He has done ok, and considering the sht storm he walked into....he shouldn't be ashamed of anything.
Also, considering how bull-headed and partisan the republicans can be, after 2010, I understand why the entire government was at a virtual stand-still. 2012 was the year of record breaking Republican led fillibusters.
That fact alone would steer me the fck away from any party. Grow the fck up and work for your country rather than trying to continue to increase the divide.
But yeah, couple all that with the pillars that Romney stands upon (then doesn't stand upon, then stands upon, then doesn't....lol Romney), and it's embarassing that anyone would consider voting for him.

I can understand why some people (like myself) don't like Obama, but someone who votes for Romney has no idea what they're doing. There's other candidates besides Romney to vote for if you're unhappy with Obama.

But that's the 2 party system at work. They CAN vote for someone else, but they've been compartmentalized for thier entire life....and see nothing but blue and red.

Great thing about America. Everyone has an opinion and free to vote for whomever they want.

The problem with that Moose, is that many don't vote based on an educated opinion.
Some will viote Dem or Republican their entire life, regardless of who is running.

Kaz, part of the reason why education funding is always cut first, is because a dumb populace is easy to control.
and Moose, it's said to see people take their freedom and piss it away because they're uninformed

Well, that and education doesn't MAKE money. It just uses it.

War on Terror, War on Drugs, Surveillance on Americans, Prison Culture....all of it makes money for certain people and is the highest priority, but smart people are a threat to be mitigated.

I agree with that. I'm no political juggernaut, but I do consider the facts when something like this is going to get my vote. My beliefs may be different than yours (not you specificly Kaz), hence I may vote different. I've never been one to bash someone for voting for the opposition. If you made your vote based on an educated decision and one that falls in line with your beliefs, I can't tell you any differently. I expect the same from people around here (not LA specificly). Four years ago I heard so many "I voted for him because he was black" comments it near made me sick. Race or gender has nothing to do with this. Now those people, if they provide that answer, I will throttle. Vote who you want for. It's what men and women lay their life down for so you can have the FREEDOM to do.

If we really care about a presidential candidate's religion anymore,
Then we should probably care about the religion of who cooks our food, or teaches our math class, or who provides my annual medical examinations, because THOSE people will have a greater effect on our lives than the president.

Nope.... I don't want a president who believes in an afterlife with his finger on the nuclear launch button.

Please, as if it would ever come to that. You sound as paranoid as people who claim they'll move to Canada if things don't go their way. I think we stopped threatening with nuclear warfare back in Eisenhower's administration against Communist China. 50 years ago when we were still wagging our guns around. Talks of SALT and START has diminished such policies and reduced not only nuclear weapons, but all kinds of ballistics.
If there's anyone you should fear of because of nuclear weapons is fundamentalist theological nations like Iran.

I have a hard enough time dealing with the religious "litmus" test that every candidate has to go through (because it's ridiculous), but Mormonism is a ridiculous religion
we need to get past this bizarre ritualistic bullshit influencing politics

Looks like Romney is winning so far, but there's still a LOT of votes to be counted. I've got 3 websites pulled up right now keeping track of state and national votes. It looks like Obamacare will be outlawed in Alabama even though the vote is kind of close. Removing segregation from our constitution doesn't stand a chance of passing though, so far 63% of the state voted against it LMFAO!!!

polls on the west coast can't report for about an hour or so, and that'll put Obama in the lead with all those electoral votes
