for the love of god.
i was sitting in the apparatus bay at work and this guy comes sprinting up to me and yells that a woman on a bicycle just got hit and there's blood everywhere. so we hop in the engine and take off down the street and this woman looks like a ****ing pile of wadded up human. she had road rash everywhere and there was a pool of blood around her head.
i was the first one to her and thankfully she was alert and awake and she told me her head was killing her and her back was hurting bad too. so i was fingering my way through her hair to find the source of the blood only to discover a 2 inch gash with an indentation (skull fracture). then i ran my hand down her spine to discover that her lumbar vertebrae were about 3 inches off midline (broken back). so we got a backboard and we rolled her over onto it and we were now face to face about a foot apart. she was absolutely beautiful. i mean completely stunning. she looked me right in the eyes and asked me why she didnt wear her helmet today. i didnt know what to say. i just said that i was so sorry and i promised to take care of her.
we loaded her into the ambulance and they took off for the hospital.

Good man Otis.
You're a ****ing hero to us all.
My buddy is a Firefighter and I need to get him to tell me more stories like this.

Different jobs for different folks. Probably couldn't deal with other peoples cuts and deaths all the time.
Glad we got people who can.

Ok well I got some more info from the ambulance that transported her. Turns out she had a broken pelvis and that's why her spine was deviated. Also they had to give her fentynol which is stronger than morphine because she was screaming bloody murder once her shock wore off and she started feeling her injuries. So sad, I want to go check on her tomorrow but I never got her name.

Little precautions save lives.
I'd expect women to be more receptive to using helmets than guys.
If only because their hair might get in the way of their line of sight.

Well, her hair was definitely messed up. Unless she left home with her hair completely matted with blood.
