listen to any two of his podcasts and see if you feel the same
he's a humble guy trying to get people to think about life and be nicer to each other
I was prepared to hate on him, but there's nothing about the guy that comes across as what you're describing
People need to learn that they can't just get up in people's faces and act the way they want without consequences, and that's exactly what he was trying to show
Respect people when you're talking to them, and 99/100, you're not going to end up in a f**king headlock

No, what he did was clearly state his position on his personal space and the consequence of getting in it. The dbag thought he'd push his buttons and Rogan followed up on his promise.
For all we know, Rogan was just as smashed as the other dude....
The other dude was about 3 seconds from getting a knee to the face. When an MMA fighter has you by the ears like that, they're about to change how you look in your next family photos.
I saw that episode where the dude he was up against berrated his partner for the whole show. His public humiliation and verbal abuse of her, was probably just a glimpse of the extent to which he abused her.
Hair pulling....is all fair game if there's enough of it to hold on to. I dont' know why people object to it. It's like a shirt....no one objects to grabbing clothing. I would have liked to see him crush that dbags face while yanking out 3 toupees worth of greasy hair.

The internet generation is upon us. I would never speak to people in real life like I do online. Even if I was Rogan-esque. I just know better. This one dude, clearly had no fcking clue what was socially acceptable and what wasn't. Rogan made it explicitly clear, and he tested the theory.
It's like a lion trainer saying, "dont' go in there, he'll kill you"....and then having some fcktard walk in to the lions cage.
People act tough from the comfort of thier vehicle, or on their headset, cell phone. IN real life, someone may just choke you out for being a douche.

#20335I'm not talking about those two specific situations. I'll find links to some other situations where he appears very different but I'm at work right now. I know off the top of my head though that one of the situations had to deal with "Carlos Mencia" and he came off as a jealous whiner.. and that was the first time I've ever really seen him so that impression wasn't good.
I'll have to listen to some of his podcasts though because like I said, he brings up very valid points when he is being interviewed or talking about something... especially his defense of MMA. I remember him destroying some guy on Fox news claiming UFC was more dangerous than boxing.

after rolling a bunch of times with a few purple belts these past few weeks, and seeing how easily each one could dominate a 6' 230 man, Joe Rogan was playing with both those people
if he wanted to hurt them, he wouldn't even break a sweat
Carlos Mencia is known throughout the comedy world as someone who purposefully steals other people's material, he's a hack thief with no talent. This shit is documented on youtube.
He handled that situation in the best possible way, sticking up for all the comedians who've been ripped off
Carlos would go as far as going on first, just so he could steal some of the person's best bits coming on after him, and not allowing the person to use the jokes
Low class trash

#20337Most (if not all) comedians use the same material after a while. He took ideas and jokes, made them better and performed them better. I don't understand why people get so worked up about it to be honest.
Plenty of people taking existing ideas, polish them, twist them and make them better and no one says anything.
Lets not forget he had a lot of original material that was pretty damn funny imo. One of the jokes he was claimed of "stealing" was about mexicans crossing the border and who would build the fence or something.. I heard a ton of comedians say that in a different way.

no, he didn't polish them up, he took them word for word
and most comedians use the same themes, but not the same joke
it's a code of honor they have
It's why a lot of true comedy fans can't stand Dane Cook, because he stole from Louis C.K.

Or 17... LMAO. I don't know if I'd let you buy that many. I'd rather have Jäger shots and bourbon.

#20340Did you watch that second one? Those other comics aren't blasted and that is a funny definition of "word for word". Carlos has stated he takes other peoples jokes and uses them in a differnent manner, why wouldn't he? His job is to make people laugh.
I watch a lot of standup comedy and see this kind of thing all the time, especially with topical material.

Don't see how this can possibly be seen as "whiny" or "jealous".
Rogan is outspoken, and, as you see with the Lee bit in this video, other people roll over and just let it happen.
I like how Rogan is up on stage, calling him out, and the little worm can't do or say sht because he knows he's in the wrong.
His only retort? "You are obsessed with me..."
When people are desperate and can't defend themselves, they make the issue about the other person.

that's what hacks do, they take other people's shit instead of working on original views on things
that second one is FAR too close to call it original
he's a lazy comedian who isn't respected by anyone
if you can't make someone laugh using your own shit, you have no business being a comedian
he takes other people's jokes, then adds the word "beaner"
how f**king special

actually, no one really likes DL either
not sure about Lopez though
I get that if you're a fan of comedy, someone else's shit may wander into your head from time to time, THAT is normal, but it happens to him far too often.

It's one thing to take from others material and recycle it. It's another thing to do it without crediting them for it. It's yet another thing entirely to deny your theivery and act as though what you're doing is not reprehensible.
Script writers for sitcoms get credit for thier contributions....sht, trainers get credit when an athlete finds success. But, somehow because it's comedy, he gets a pass?
I applaud Rogan for calling him out on taking credit for someone's jokes. You can't take a joke, shift a few words around and call it yours. It doesn't work like that.....and clearly Rogan isn't the only who takes exception to it. He just seems to be the one least afraid of making a public spectacle of the liar.

I get worked up about this shit because I believe in having integrity, I believe in working for my own success, and I'd never want anyone to think that I used someone else to get where I am. So when I see someone use other people's hard work to help get themselves to a certain place, and not acknowledge or credit anyone for THEIR work, I see it as one of the biggest reasons our society is the way it it is right now.
Other people choose the lazy route, and I don't respect that.

#20348There are plenty of comedians who do the same exact thing. I bet if I scower Youtube, I can find the same thing with Joe Rogan and other comedians. It happens all the time. It's not like he has 0 original material.
People resent success and that's why everybody started targeting Carlos because it was right around that time he got his own show on comedy central.

Habitual criminals are dealt a heavier hand by the law than a first time offender.
Mencia is clearly the habitual offender in this forum....and an even bigger dbag for opening for someone and telling thier jokes before that come on stage.
I mean, who the fck does that?

another example is Bill Hicks vs. Denis Leary
I still really enjoy Leary, but my respect for him went down a bit after hearing about this
