I've got a Scuf controller for the PS3 and absolutely love it, but this new controller they're coming out with is completely over the top. I looked on the Scuf website to see how much this new controller was going to be if you completely tricked it out. Final price... $208.09 including shipping!!! Here's a vid which shows the new controller.

Only for BoX? Not sure what it does, and it would need a 15 out of 10 rating on wear n tear to consider paying that much.

Or am I being an ass for not seeing what the buttons are used for?
i think the idea is being able to leave your thumbs on sticks and index on the triggers while middle and ring fingers can hit those paddles on the back. It's crazy expensive. If you can afford a controller that's over 100 bucks, you can probably afford a PC, and look at all of these buttons:

Just stuff so 12/13 year old's can pester their parents to buy it them.
I cannot see why anyone would spend that much money on a controller that does very little to enhance the gaming experience.

I've just got the basic PS3 controller (http://www.scufgaming.com/usa/products/ps3#ecwid:category=2510578&mode=product&product=11019326)and it was well worth the money in my opinion. The 4 button controller would just be overkill though. It's nice being able to knife on default and still jump/prone with the paddles, but I can't see the need for extra paddles just to be able to switch weapons/reload plus it seems like they would just get in the way. Alpha, I'll let you know if they ever come out with a solid titanium controller since that's probably what you would need LOL.

The $100 version Bama says he has....says this:
"We also offer “left thumbstick down” as an alternative choice for the left paddle because we recognize that a significant problem with normal controllers is that the left thumbstick push down function (eg Sprint in CoD) can fail after only a few months. The SCUF controller allows you to choose the left paddle to be SPRINT, thus eliminating this wear and tear on your controller."
Might be worth looking into. You'd have to let your gaming suffer while adjusting to the new setup, but might be a good one to have.

Thats a good concept if it works.
Would take a couple weeks of training a back finger to run, but if it lasted 18 months, that would be 3 normal controllers destroyed.

I know that you don't dropshot so I'd recommend getting your paddles configured so that the left paddle sprints and the right paddle knifes. The learning curve wouldn't be nearly as bad for you as it was for me since I went from tactical button layout to default so I could panic knife LOL. You can pretty much get the paddles configured to anything you want, and since the paddles are VERY sturdy you wouldn't wear out nearly as many controllers if you were pounding the paddle instead of the L3 button. You could even get a pretty pink controller LMFAO!!!!

These are the same controllers I was wanting to get, but then Shadow and Syn were all like "Oh, its a modded controller..its a modded controller, its a modded controller.."
"It has rapid fire? No? Its a modded controller...its a modded controller...anus..".
I'm not even going to bother spending any more money on gaming at this point. I barely play, and when I do, it gets boring after about 5 matches.
I ****ing hate my life.

The way I see it, the Bama controller is basically just set up so that another finger performs a task that an another finger normally would.
So, rather than having your thumb have to move over to do, say a panic knife, your right ring finger would then take over.
Syn can drop shot perfectly with a default button layout....that's totally fair. I dont' see how attributing that action to another finger constitutes cheating.
Cheating is an aimbot, or a wallhack...or a rapidfire controller. It gives one person an entirely unfair and unbridgable advantage. If I really wanted to drop shot in default, I'd have to practice doing it to make it happen....but I eventually could. No amount of practice or experience could get me to auto lock onto another player all game, every game, or to anticipate a player moving out from a building regardless of their perk choice.
It still remains that no matter what controller someone uses, connection will be the determining factor in how they place in the loby more than anything.

it's a modification to give a controller new functionality that it isn't supposed to have
you're not supposed to be able to do this stuff

I would want it so that I could run, drop shot AND panic knife.
Syn can do that with a regular controller. Is he not supposed to be able to do that?
For the record, I think Syn is OP.

if someone can do that with a standard layout, they're good
buying something to give you the ability to do things that most people cannot, is very close to cheating
maybe I'll pick one up and see what it's all about

I remember an attachement a few years ago, by mad Catz maybe, that helped with thumbstick control.
What were they?

Well it's really no different to having headphones. Both give you an advantage over other people, but don't play the game for you.

I had bought that MLG pro controller...absolutely loved the feel of it, but after two months, it stopped registering certain button pushes/movements. The ability to move/react quickly was gone, as was the money I spent on that controller

Chisa there's really nothing unfair about it. Since COD4 I've played on tactical layout since I found dropshotting more useful than panic knifing (ahhhh the day's before across the map knife lunges LOL). The only real difference now is that I knife more than I used to, and sometimes I'll be a total douche and do a flying dropshot LMAO. It's not like using a rapidfire controller and Scuf doesn't even offer that as an option. If you want to try it out for "cheap" you can send them 1 of your controllers and they'll add the paddles and the plates which make pressing the L2 & R2 buttons faster (which is useless for PS3 unless you play COD on the flipped setup and use those buttons for shooting/aiming).
