Kill Streaks, Death Streaks and MOABs Oh My!

This thread is not directed at this community and I posted it on several forums I frequent
I see so many threads about over powered or under powered kill streaks. So much hate for death streaks. That it had me wondering just what is the purpose of having them.
I watch a lot of game play videos and the one thing I can say that is the same in almost 90% of them is that the kill streaks actually dictate how people play. So many players care so much about getting their kill streaks that they stop playing the objective of a game. I just got done watching a video of a player who was so concerned with getting a MOAB that they did not go after tags in KC that were not right next to them and while they were not camping too hard it still was dictating how the person was playing. As they got closer to their pred. or chopper they stopped going after tags across the room or near vulnerable areas.
I think that getting rid of all kill streaks -really no need to say this about death streaks as that is a given- and getting rid of all things like MOABs and Nukes the game would most likely be more enjoyable to everyone involved.
Or make it so that you earn kill streaks like you do with the support package but take out nukes and the like.
I think this would also cut down on those players who really do camp just to get their kill streaks. While this idea would not cut back on those players who's KDR is everything to them I do think the idea has merit.
From what I have read on forums and watched on game play videos I think this game -or any game really- would be much more enjoyable to the masses if all anyone had to worry about was winning.
Remember gun on gun game play was what started FPS games or was the main focus of FPS games to begin with. IMO the only thing kill streaks have ever added to any game is angst.
Try playing a whole prestige without any kill streaks. Or just UAV. Where you are not worried about anything other than just playing the game free from "gotta get me pavlow/MOAB" mentality.
I think you would have more fun.

Deathstreaks should be gone no doubt, but not killstreaks. Killstreaks are one of the main things that defines Call of Duty. It's rewarding to know that when you kill people, you're awarded. Yeah, some killstreaks are OP/underpowered, but it's something to look forward to when you get kills.
Not having killstreaks would totally change how the way plays, but it's something that is so central to what CoD is.

Deathstreaks are horrible, horrible ideas.
There's already sets of game modes in which killstreaks are disabled, I think that's a very good idea.
Sometimes I want to streak, sometimes I do not.

#17807I kind of agree.
I think there should much a lot less killstreaks and only up to 7 kills (like COD4). It's not too hard for an average player to get a 7 killstreak so you're not going to see a lot of camping.
They had it right with COD4 in mostly all aspects. Don't fix something that isn't broken.

All the lag and bullets not connecting in this game are what ruins it. Fix that shit first.

COD4 had a lot of things right, and, the game played properly because of that. No one camped for a heli, and if they did, it was short lived.
Also, you couldn't have 57 things up in the air at once. 1 heli, 1 airstrike. Period.
The maps were so clean and clear. Sniper sightlines, but not MW2 style.
Guns had limits. No SMG or shotgun sniping.
They also didn't believe in rewarding shtty players. They barely lag comp'd people, they didn't have death streaks, and the only thing that would happen if you got a 25 streak, was a little notice would pop up.
Thank you.
No need to overdo and over complicate things. But now, it's a necessity.

Just going back to Black Ops... had a lot of things right.
Killstreaks were NOT stackable. There was no MOAB or NUKE.
COD just tried to implement more and more so its not the same every year, and by doing so it unbalances and takes away from what made it so big in the first place.

I would say, yes and no.
They didn't stack, and there was no nuke.
If you could pull off 8 kills and get a Blackbird, you could almost always get a Chopper Gunner and Attack Dogs, which gets you a helluva lot more kills than any MOAB will.

I hate dogs, easily the worst kill streak in any COD game
no matter what chopper/osprey is up in the air, you can shoot it down
most/all streaks have a counter, or an avoidability
not dogs

Or MW2, too. It is something called lag compensation and guess in what CoD title was it added first? I’ll wait......
BO. MW3 Used it and I am guessing BO2 will. Playing MW2 was fun as hell last week because my bullets hit the damn enemy coming at me!
Lag compensation is a built-in lag in newer CoDs matchmaking. The better your internet, the more you are fucked and the worse your internet, the more you are helped. It evens the gun fights in theory but in reality, it ****s everyone. I think it is like black history month, it is ruined what it was trying to fix even further.
Even Hitler hates it! He also explains the problem very well, too :p

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say.

BO may have had bad lag comp, but i swear MW3 has streamlined the process, just to ensure tyrone's 2 mb connection outdoes your T3. Every corner you turn, the bastards are shooting at you a split second before you even notice them. COD isnt about reflexes anymore, It's about who has the shittiest connection. Imagine the advantages with dial up.
But yeah, back to the topic at hand. Less killstreaks would be good, Anything to give less incentive to camp. I don't care if they move gradually, just as long as they're moving. Sniping is forgivable, but at least be smart enough to move after a few kills.
Take out anything above 8 or so kills, and you've got it.
