Okay.
Remember yesteryear where LeftAnalog was an open community and we were trying to get new people coming here so we can preach our philosophies? Back before this was an exclusive club. lol.
With the lack of people playing from here.. Im thinking about starting a new site, geared towards people just beginning in COD. Sort of like a HUPIT (if you will) but we will preach the RUSH philosophy. A site where people can meet people to play COD with and get better with.
Original thought was something like "GameTogether.com" which is obviously taken.. but you can see where I want to go with it.
I need ideas. Any ideas are welcome.. as long as they are constructive towards my end goal.

HUPIT is even more dead than this site is now Alpha even with big YouTubers like Woody & Wings supporting it, that you should tell you something about the state of COD now LOL. Even the official COD website looks pretty dead to me [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Just face it, the Call of Duty franchise is dead and it's time to move on. Nothing you can do about it Syn, sorry bro.

That's the thing. Millions of people buy and play it.
A lot of people are playing solo, and want people to play with.
I want to provide that platform.
Or at the very least, give people resources to learn to play better.
Ideally, combine the both together.

#61006I've always said this but you can't react to people with a condescending attitude.. at first at least. Should be preach RUSH first and explain why it's so much more fun, it makes you learn the game better and it improves your reactions and skills on a much faster basis.

Ding ding ding!!! This man gets it. You can't go into every lobby being a complete asshole, calling them p*ssies, and then expect them to be like "OMG can I be like you & add you as a friend on PS3!!!!" The last gaming night was a prime example of this. It was pretty embarrassing to get called "sore winners" by one player after a match on Dome and in my head I had to agree with him 110%.

We are a community who hate The last of us (one of the best ps3 games out there) simply because it's not a run and gun game.

woman pointed out that I beat that game 3 times. I didn't even realize I beat it and started right back over so I could keep my weapon ranks.
But you can't convince 90% of the population to change. It ain't Russia and we're not Rocky Balboa

Doesn't look like the COD community is interested in rushing anymore though.
I just looked at one of Xcal's latest COD vids:
Then I looked up one of Wings latest COD vids:
When WoR's vids get over 3 times the views and almost 3 times the number of likes, that tells me all I need to know about the current state of the COD community. Keep up the good fight bro, but you're trying to kayak up Niagara Falls LOL.

1- You can go on reddit and look for players over there. I bet there is a subreddit for Ghosts on the PS3.
2- If you make that site, I have an idea of a schedule that can be edited by the members so they can post the time they play at and other information.
Here is a rough idea of how it should look: [ Note that the red text is moving from right to left and could have more info on it ]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I can think of a way of making the coding part work to show the right information although we need someone good with coding since it is a bit tricky.

I think it would be hard for people to consistently post up times they are playing. I like the idea, but maybe more vague.
Was thinking of having a player database where people can sort by different fields to find people they want to play with.
For instance -
Field 1: Game - COD, GTAV, MineCraft, etc
Field 2: Location - East US, West US, South US, Mid US, UK, and a few more popular regions on the other side of the world.
Field 3: Style - Relaxed, Casual, Competitive
Field 4: Hardware - PS3, PS4, X360, X1, PC
Field 5: Mic - Yes or No
Probably a couple other fields.
Then via a Dropdown I can narrow my results. Maybe I start with these search paramters:
Game: COD
Location: East Coast USA
Hardware: PS3
I then get full bio's on the players that show up with these fields with my search query. I can choose to message them on the site, as well as get their PSN to FR them on my PS3.
Have a Community Forums where people can get to know people as well.
Something along those lines.

Yeah, that was what I am aiming for but the times listed are simply an estimation and the user can click a big red button to have his name added in the moving, red right-to-left thing. That only works if the users are little in numbers so, I kinda see where it fails.
Anyway, we are on the same page so I guess you already thought of it :p

I think you were the one that originally brought up what i am about to say, people are not going to sign up to a forum when they can get the latest news, techniques and game matches from facebook. Even if they did not have to sign up they pretty much have reddit, facebook, twatter and other forms of social media to look to for their info. You probably should have entered the race while "you and the few" were in the lead, not now when you are behind the curve.
In the immortal words of Terry Rapson: I'm afraid that time has come and gone, my friend.
Maybe pick a new franchise?
Or
Everyone here starts playing the same game? Pick up BL2 or something. Believe it or not people are losing interest in COD. It is the asshats who camp/troll and generally play like a douchey little cocksmurf that run casual and hardcore players alike off of servers. Every iteration you see more and more people like you guys not buying the games. You see a lot of people still playing and the numbers might even stay the same but the ratio is different. Think of it like this. You weigh 180lbs @ 40% body fat but you are lifting weights and running. A year later you weigh 180lbs @17% bodyfat. Your BF to muscle ration changed but you weigh the same because you gained muscle and lost fat. The (random number) 14,000,000 million copies sold roughly remains the same but the ratio of f*cktard to cool person to play with has changed, now there are just more f*cktards.
They see this also so what happens? They move onto other games with their sh*ttyness. Use to be you only saw the CODouche in COD. Then they started showing up in BF, then Homefront and newer games. Now you cannot go into a game without their being several little d*ckbag POS chicken effers ruining it for everyone. They even do it to games like Minecraft. I mean seriously what kind of low life deviant scum trolls in Minecraft? an effing degenerate that's who. Even better Arma2 mod DayZ went from being about survival and the zombie apocalypse back to pretty much Arma2 again with the way people play. They ignore the zeek altogether and just wait for people to enter the game and kill them, it is not even to take their gear, it is just to be a dick.
F*ck it, gaming is over. Your best bet is to get a few people together and play a co-op game or just play COD together if you are really stuck on it.

HUPIT actually had a great format for matching up players. Maybe you can take a look and see what you think (note, the site is gone & up for sale by Sasben now so I had to get an archived screenshot for you).

Had to put a spoiler on that big wall of text LOL. I'll partially agree with you on the first part of your statement, COD's time has come and gone. As far as people only finding other people to play with using social media, that's just not true at least for GTA5 anyway. The site I'm primarily on now has an extremely active subform for people to meet up and play together as well as a very active crew recruitment page.
As for the second part of your essay, I've got to totally disagree with you. If you think trolling is a new phenomenon, then you obviously never played in HC modes on COD4 back in the day (RPG + Sonic Boom at the start of the match anyone?) LOL. Personally I'll only troll someone if they really piss me off, but if they do then something like this can be expected from me....
It was totally justified and I have no regrets for completely ruining their game LOL! Shitty development and catering to bad players is what has ruined COD, not campers or trolls.

That is not what I said. Trolling (though not really called that then) has been around as long as cheating and camping but the difference between the jokester/buttheads back then and the game ruining "should have been aborted" scumbags of today is so large that they are not even on the same planet.

Warning: The wall of text below is intended for Walk, read at your own risk LMAO!
- Spoiler:
- Nah, there's really no difference between the trolls/campers/cheaters then or now honestly. The biggest difference is that their numbers have grown steadily over the years which has turned a lot of good people off from gaming in general. Take COD4Boards for example, When I first joined back in 2008, if someone made a pro-camping post/thread they'd get flamed by pretty much the entire forum. Most of the regulars here (I remember Otis in particular LOL), were the ones that made sure that they left the forum with their "tail between their legs". The only one that I remember sticking around for very long was Apex_Predator.
Over the years though, the united voices of the old C4B began to get drowned out as more & more campers started joining. Eventually it got to the point where it wasn't even worth the fight, and Syn started a website just for us. Everyone you see here were the forum regulars back in the day, but eventually the community there became intolerable. By the time you took over as admin, you were handed a sinking ship that was beyond saving.
Now to tie everything together, did the community change the game or did the game change the community? I'd have to say a little bit of both if I'm really honest. I was gaming before you were born LOL, but COD4 was my first online experience. Even in COD4 though, you had trolls that were just as bad as the ones we have now. Probably 90% of the players on my Blocked Players list on PSN are from trolls I ran across while trying to finish the HCTDM challenges. Campers have always been around, the difference is that (starting with MW2) it became much easier to be a successful camper due to the way the game has changed. If I tried to camp in COD4, I doubt I could pull a 2KD and even if I did I'd be at the bottom of the scoreboard. Fast forward to MW2 and I could easily pull a 5+KD every single game if I wanted to camp and lead the scoreboard thanks to OP killstreaks. No brag, just fact. As for cheaters, they're no more annoying now than they used to be. COD4 was ruined by the "UFO hack" which any 12 year old with a USB drive & Notepad could do. The game became completely unplayable due to people flying around like Peter Pan. Even though hacking on console is not nearly that easy now, there are still plenty of hackers around ruining games and they have more power than ever before. Hell, that's the reason I've been visiting here so much the past few days because it's currently not safe to play GTA5 until R* gets the hackers under control. Even the Rockstar developers are powerless when a hacker is in a session with them. Example...
Syn might try to tell you that there are no hackers on Ghosts, but he'd be 100% wrong. They're just not as obvious now as they were in MW2. Example....
That's just a fraction of what is possible now if you know how to RTM on PS3. No game is safe, and it's almost impossible for the developers to detect or stop since you're not modifying any game files. Here's some screenshots that shows a little bit of what one of the RTM tools can do on Ghosts:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
See that name changer tab in the second picture? If you piss off a hacker now, they can change their name to your PSN id and record video evidence of you "cheating" to report you for a ban on your account. Also take note of the "Give Lag" tab. When you hear Syn complain about laggy games is it just the servers, Puerto Rican hosts, or is it a hacker giving him artificial lag? Makes you wonder doesn't it?
Syn, if you want to start a new website then I wish you the best of luck. However, if you're wanting to play with the folks here then I'd suggest organizing some more old school gaming nights since the last one seemed to be a big hit with everyone.

Lol Bama that RTM thing is exactly why I don't online game as much anymore. Getting into a lobby with a hacker isn't fun at all (in any game, not just COD). Thus I find myself enjoying more Single Player games recently (or connected single player, where your single player experience is slightly linked to your friends, but not to the public. An example is Infamous or Assassin's Creed 4)
Like really, gaming in general is going downhill for me. Every dev wants to shoehorn bullcrap MP into games that shouldn't have it, and MP games are ruined by idiots.
Oh and last night Ghosts had 74,000 people on PS3 and 40,000 on PS4 (probably more than that on 360 and less on X1 based on trends). COD used to have over 500,000 online at ALL TIMES when MW2 and BO1 were out. I remember Xbox 360 version of BO1 almost consistently hitting 1 million online. COD is dead.
