Pretty impressive feat from human kind.
110 years from the first flight, to leaving the solar system.
Going to be another 40,000 years before it reaches the next star. That little spaceship is probably going to outlive earth by the time if anything finds it

tell me again how this multi hundred billion dollar project benefits us? Oh that's right you can't. Waste of time, money and human resources.

cost of the project is 8 cents per person, per year
And if you can't find value the exploration of our solar system, there's really not much I can say.
Ships were expensive back in in the early 14th and 15th centuries, if they didn't spend the money, we wouldn't be here now. We benefit from learning about our surroundings, and set the stage for the future.

I don give a fk how pretty another planet it, ain't going. I don't want to fly to another country cause we might not make it and get lost at sea. Bitches don't get found when lost at space.
We could just wait here until the sun burns out and we all die. or light fires and sing songs.

the sun isn't going to burn out, it will go nova, and engulf most of the solar system, destroying it all, before it finally collapses into it's death

Think of all the kids who have been inspired to become scientists after learning about things like this. The things they have discovered/will discover could be invaluable.hiph0pan0tamus wrote:tell me again how this multi hundred billion dollar project benefits us? Oh that's right you can't. Teflon was also invented for spaceships. Cant beat a nonstick frying pan

I agree with curing cancer as a top priority, but unfortunately, our government gives subsidies and protects companies that put harmful chemicals in foods that are probably big culprits in our cancer epidemic
so it's not just the science holding that back, it's the basic idea of "healthy living" that the government is preventing

Every source of entertainment is, if you think about it. You are the kind of guy who sees a table with endless food and refuses to eat because the first dish on the table has a meal he does not like. Something benefit indirectly.hiph0pan0tamus wrote:tell me again how this multi hundred billion dollar project benefits us? Oh that's right you can't. Waste of time, money and human resources.
I would love to know where you want to spend the budget? Because this is the first time, with American money, that we reached such unknown place. But it sure ain’t the first time that money killed brown people.
So mind telling us where it should be invested? What do you think about the 1 Billion per day spent on the two on going wars? Not sure how you will respond but I am sure I will have a laugh.
Yes, I know this is not a funny post but this is some serious shit that many believe.

We used our brains from throwing rocks at each other to shooting high velocity projectiles and we are still advancing. You mean to tell me that developing the sling shots of old into M16s was useless? Our world is run by that stuff now.
You do not have to see it to benefit from it. I am sure the army uses a shit ton of data from NASA. It is a sad thing to relate science to killing but if that what it takes to get your support, seeing y’all agree with your silence on the US government spending plans, I do not mind making such relation.
No, I do not smoke weed and suck Carl Sagan dick every time science is mentioned since I barely understand it but you have to give credit where it is due. Saying what you said shits all over the space race, anything related to satellites and the brave souls who lost their lives in the hope of reaching space. That is a lot of good people and useful tech to be looking down upon.

Lmao chisa. Due to all this space talk, ima stop by the challenger 7 memorial park.
Also Johnson space center is about 15 minutes away. The zero gravity simulator is pretty cool, well you know what I mean.

Okay, I am done making cheeky jokes but maybe they can find something kick ass on another planet? Like the nuclear radiation eating bacteria here on Earth found in Chernobyl? Like something that makes Oxygen or removes some CO2 out of our air? [Other than trees.....]
A cave man found fire amazing but that is an old trick we all know. This is mind blowing and a first in history. A 2nd moon landing that is not heavily covered by the media if you will.
The whole point is not to get you to support it but, not be against it. Not you, Alpha, but those who share the same mentality in the US.

Our country is in shambles and debt crisis, why you sending it all to space?
Fix here, then go there.

790.0$ billion and slowly, but surely counting over the span of 50 years.

I am not the smartest in math but your problem is not with NASA so stop acting like it is. I am all up from spending shit ton of money if it brings results. With less than 1T, NASA left our solar system. I am not sure what the guys are still doing after Osama went to his maker but they are still on Earth and nothing note worthy happened other than useless deaths on both sides. Their efforts are amazing, the small guys anyway, but their results relative to their spending is pitiful at best.
Pull your boys out of these hell holes, cut overseas spending, use that money to increase defense in the US itself and rebuild the country. Those who tell you can not pull the troops out are people who have their hands deep in dirty money and can not lose such thing. You fly’em out of their just like you sent them.
Once you rebuild your country with this plan, go back and do your thing and help the poor bastards over there if it is in your best interest. I have no understanding of all the BS in politics and their BS loop holes but why won’t this work?
This thread is kinda cool. We should really make a news thread and discuss current news in depth and with the least amount of jokes and no amounts of BS.

On a serious note, the amount spent on the war on terror, and the war on drugs is where you can make the biggest savings
