Rotating black holes are surrounded by a region of spacetime in which it is impossible to stand still, called the ergosphere. This is the result of a process known as frame-dragging; general relativity predicts that any rotating mass will tend to slightly "drag" along the spacetime immediately surrounding it. Any object near the rotating mass will tend to start moving in the direction of rotation. For a rotating black hole this effect becomes so strong near the event horizon that an object would have to move faster than the speed of light in the opposite direction to just stand still.

It's so obvious now.
I'm playing in the ergoshpere of a black hole.
Must.
Call.
Stephen.

Although this is pretty much true, quoting Wiki is never a good thing

Quoting wiki is usually not a good thing in academia, especially regarding contentious issues, like politics, or evolving moral discussions, and if you don't take further initiatives to check and double check source material and, especially, page history.
I basically quoted lecture notes from Sean Carroll via his website (material from 2004), and the source material on wikipedia hadn't undergone any alterations in over 6 years.
I figured it was safe to use it on a gaming forum without judgment.

I wasn't judging that you hadn't done your homework Mr. Kaz, sir. I was merely stating that Wiki is an obvious source and quoting it immediately makes me doubt the quality. I enjoyed your parallels between rushing and cosmological physics. Didn't mean any offence.

No offense taken.
I just always hear, "don't quote wiki"....and I usually don't, for the reasons you understand to be the logical ones.
I'd just feel more douchey getting all sciency AND all bibliographical at the same time.

m sorry I got lost on Rotating black holes.
And dont worry about being douchey... we know you are not.
Are you saying you are trying to play blops from a blackhole?
Not gonna lie. Didnt read past Rotating black holes. All I could think of was ebony women. Not to derail this thread.

Interesting stuff about the black hole, but not getting many games with ya, I'm not sure I see the correlation.
Also, is Stephen Hawking getting smaller, or is his chair getting bigger?

I have a compulstion to run everywhere. "impossible to stand still"
I get tons of framerate lag. "frame dragging"
I have to mash my left analog forward at what seems like the speed of light, but character feels like they're standing still.
I think I'm on to something.
The alternative, is a multi-billion sollar gaming industry put out the 7th iteration of a game....and it can't be played in a PS3 console for sh!t.
It just seems more likely that I'm on the edge of a black hole and that's affecting my game than someone intentionally created such a major technological failure that seems completely irrepairable.
