Anyone else struggle to run outside in extreme temps?
Can't be freezing or breathing becomes a challenge, can't be hot or you drop dead. Spring n fall only good times.

if I run outside, I try and keep it relatively short if it's hot/humid....1.6 miles is the track around the reservoir across the street, I'll do 1 maybe 2 laps in the heat, that's it though
I can run much easier when it's freezing outside

When I was at the highest point in my training my second and third runs of the day in the summer were done around 11 am and 5 pm and the heat was from 87 – 100. Although I hate the heat it was a necessary thing.
One tip I can offer is that drinking room temperature water before running in heat seems to help, as warmer water stays in your system longer.
And cold running? Covering your hands and face help a lot everything else takes care of itself. Wear a baklava or something with “wickaway” material or some type of gortex. That way it will draw the moisture away from your nose and mouth and keep it relatively dry while keeping it warm.
Works for me.

Interesting.
I've never bought in to the energy drinks, and this is performing at fairly high levels in the sports that are really targeted by these drinks. I exercise primarily for fun....and secondly, for weight maintenance and muscle toning. Seeing massive calories counted on a Gatorade or Monster Energy drink was a complete turn off....
I did, on the other hand, buy into the protein powder on my first go 'rpund with weight training. Ended up doing natural food my second go, with much better results.

that's actually a bad idea. if you are sick then you should not lift/run. it will prolong your sickness because your body is already working overtime to fight the virus/bacteria causing your illness, when you force your body to repair muscle tissue at the same time, you end up staying sick longer and feeling worse.

you know, I totally skipped the point
Alpha, what is "freezing" to you?
cause if you say "I can't run when it's 40F", we're going to have words

At 110, Canada, and all Canadians, melt.
50 is shorts weather. 40 is, if it's February. Otherwise, running between 20-50 degrees is optimal (Farenheit).

To keep near a topic..
Never could lift the same in winter. Muscles stayed tight. Didn't know what to wear to gym lol. Put on sweats, get to gym, walk in to 75 degrees and sweat. Walk outside sweating and get death pneumonia.
We bitch about heat but couldn't live if it was 30 degrees longer than a month. Southerners lol
Cry its too cold, then go sit in deer stand not moving for 4 hours.

lol high humidity.
try working your ass off in a burning house and then stumbling outside to get relieved and when you take your gear off, it feels no different than when you were inside.
fighting fire in the summer sucks ass.
