Went to turn it on today and it wont boot. Locks up at the bootup screen. Im going to see
if incan get it back on, but i cant even access bios or boot options... It freezes before that point. All my files. All my videos. I wish the pc would of gave me an indicator that it was gettin ready to die. Im postin this from my old iphone.

Ive gotten my PC to boot up. I am actually posting from it. I disconnected all USB stuff first, and now it seems to work. What would that indicate? A bad PSU?

Come to think of it. I bet I do need a new PSU. I am drawing a TON of power from my USB I think lol. I have my TBpx21, old Trittons, HDPVR and Mouse and Keyboard. I bet that is over doing it. When I unplugged my TB, trittons, and PVR it booted fine. Have yet to plug them back in. I use TB for my mic (ghetto mic you have seen before). I actually have the USB from my trittons plugged into my PC then a regular pair of headphones plugged into the trittons control switch. Hmm..
Also about a week ago, my mouse just stopped working. I didnt think nothing much except the mouse was goin bad. But I seen it had power. I switched it to a different USB port and it worked again.
To get more power for my USB devices... do I need a new PSU? im lost.

Could be that the Motherboard is going bad, or it doesn't have enough air flow and overheated.
Mine did it until I installed a fans all over it.
I could try opening up my case and putting a fan on it. I dont think thats the issue but never know. Ive edited my post above yours.

#45269My PC has tons of shit on it. My screen use to freeze, mouse stops working, etc. Opened case and found one of my fans of my graphics card wasn't working. :/ Put a fan and it doesn't do it anymore.
PSU could be it but I highly doubt it. But you should check how many watts it has on it.
Smell it, if it smells burnt. Well, new one is needed. lol

I may open my case up and look at everything. I also may look into getting a Externally powered USB hub. To try and take some of the load of the USB ports. lol.

My PSU I think was 500w. I suppose thats not enough. If I upgraded that part... is it possilbe to have TOO MUCH watts? Or only too little? Stupid computers.

Not sure, but when buying parts you have to look at the wattage for each part.
Fans, GPU, CPU, etc. All have a wattage. Anything that draws power from the PSU has a wattage on it.
If the overall of all your components go over the wattage the PSU can support then shit hits the fan.
The higher the wattage on a PSU the better. Go for a 1000 watts PSU. Nothing in your PC should be having more than 800 max. Unless you have a gamer's PC which could hit higher than 1000.
If you buy a PSU make sure the Form Factor is the same as the case and motherboard.

Ive had this PC for ages. Never had an issue with it. Until just recently. The PSU has held up fine for years.
