someone sounds mad that i have the right to carry a concealed handgun. you have that right too, but your government took it from you.
I'm not mad, if anything I'm glad that I don't feel the need to carry around a handgun. I don't feel unsafe or anything cause I don't have a weapon, I actually feel better knowing that not everybody can just purchase a gun and take it with them wherever they go.
that isnt the case at all. you have to pass an FBI background check to buy a gun. if you want to carry it, its a 12 hour class on handgun law, and then you have to pass an accuracy test.

That really depends on the state though.
Still, people who pass the background check and all the other jazz can still go batshit crazy.

except they dont. concealed handgun license holders basically dont commit violent crime. never in the history of the united states has a CHL holder gone on a shooting spree.

That actually surprises me. I can't imagine that none of the people carrying a weapon go mental and start shooting people. But do they kill people?

there has never been an instance of a CHL holder just snapping and killing someone. they do however defend themselves from attackers thousands of times a year, sometimes they kill the attacker, but most times just drawing on them is enough to make them run off. ive never had to shoot anyone but ive pulled my weapon once to discourage a very angry and muscular black dude that was cursing at me and running up to my car. he turned around and got back in his car and drove off.
the last thing you wanna do is kill someone in self defense. even though you are acting within the law and within your rights, you will still almost certainly go to court. even after you are no billed by a grand jury, you can still face civil lawsuit from the attacker's family. but its better than being dead and better than being seriously injured and disabled for the rest of your life.
oh yeah and i drew on a guy with a knife outside a bar who walked up to me and the 3 girls i was with. the dude was out of his mind but had the sense to run off.

That shit rarely happens over here, it's mostly just criminals shooting other criminials. I would want to carry a weapon if I knew that every where I go I can get attacked at any given time, I'd feel unsafe. But giving a bunch of people a gun doesn't really help since I'd know that if I pull out my gun, there's a big chance the other dude has one as well, which can result in some shots being fired.
I found a few fire-arm related death list, but theyre calculated per 100k people. Which is 0.46 per 100k in The Netherlands and 10.3 per 100k in the USA (according to Wikipedia & Gunpolicy.org)
But this is still the internet, so these may or may not be facts.

LOL, biggest bullshit story I've ever read.
you accusing me of making shit up?
come on you know me better than that.
So let me ask you this, had in fact the guy pulled over, showing no weapon at all, would you also? The presence here is hand to hand combat. Your first reaction (as you were thinking it) is to flash a piece at a guy to scare him. I understand the "you never know" situation, but only if you felt really threatened I think is the only time I'd have my piece flashed to end a situation with road raging idiots.

Surely it would be more 'manly' to win a fight with out having to resort to a weapon?
Then again, i've not had a lifetime of marketing from gun companies and the NRA telling me that guns make you a man

Otis said he was bigger than this guy. Most likely wouldnt of needed to "flash his piece" as you call it.
I dont own a gun (Then again I am from a suburb in Ohio). If I felt I needed to keep one at home, I would. But its not necessary in my neighborhood.

Do not Generalize "Americans".
Im not pro gun, but im not anti-gun. Down south its a bit more common. Or perhaps its the area you live in... because if I lived in Cleveland, i'd have a gun at my house.

I agree its about where you live and i can see why most americans react the way they do when you bring up gun laws and rights, even if i dont agree with them i understand where they are coming from.

Wasn't aimed towards the traffic issue.
My view is about home defense. If someone breaks in, an armed house is more secure than an unarmed one. I sleep better with a shotgun in arms reach.

unfortunately, people are bat shit crazy and/or total pussies
