Ok, so, I take my job seriously. I take everything pretty seriously, except for the sht that I don't take seriously.
parent teacher interviews are one thing I don't take seriously.
Famous words when dealing with parents who think I am raising their little fcks for 3 years: I teach 600+ kids per year. You have 1. Keep up with thier work and their grades, it's not my job to call home everytime that decide to take a zero.
When asked if I get stressed out or worried aobut kids working on power tools, my response was "well, they're not my kids so.....no."
Anyway, we have a nauseatingly long and "convenience based" setup going. Booked interviews all Wednesday, in the day, break for lunch, then again in the afternoon, then break for dinner, and back until 8:30. We did booked interviews all morning, and then have drop in in the afternoon.
So, here I am for my drop in sessions. In my office...with my main entrance shut and locked.
Parents who come for drop in are the ones who suck worse than thier kids. Clueless, disorganized, and basically end up here because they're lost.
I have a shop to clean, machines to service and report card marks to input.
Talking about how cool that shtty birdhouse turned out is at the bottom of my list right now.
I hope you've all learned something today.

Teachers don't care and aren't great idols?
Job would have to come with no rage pills.

I care about the sht that matters.
Talking to a parent about the progress of thier child who has a 100% in my class and received an award in every subject including mine since grade 7....no thanks.
That's who comes. parents of over-achievers.
Usually, a large contingent of chinese and korean parents, asking how Su-ling can improve on her 99% overall average...because they think she's slipping.
We have grade teams who try to set up meetings with parents of those kids about to be 'left behind', and, no return call, no meeting, no interview. For 3 years...
You wonder why kids fail. 9 teachers bending over backwards Monday to Friday, and a parent who bought them a pass to Brazzers.
You gonna come to school? lol

You know, every day for me is, leave the house by 6am, or just before, and then work straight through till around 4. Get home at 4:30. I work through lunch and hardly sit down (except to LA while they do an assignment)....when they start making my day go until 8:30, and I'm coming home at 9, and doing that over (used to be 3 days of it)....and we're here "to be here", and not for any other purpose, it's a waste of time.
I'm being productive right now, and it's because I'm not bullshtting with some Dad who came here 25 years ago.
