I read his "It's not About the Bike."
Believed he was naturally gifted. But no natural talent can compete with enhanced athletes who are start from close to where you are naturally, and then amp sht up with drugs.
The entire sport is one contaminated with drug users. The winner is usually the one with the best pharmacist (with best cocktail), and the best doctor (who finds the best urine samples).
IMO, still an amazing athlete. He almost gets a pass in my book because he's competing against a field of equally doped up riders. Jay Cutler, Ronnie Coleman...the entire group of pro bodybuilders are in the same ranks. Training needs to be there, but the drugs are what separate you.
It's like being an implant hater in the Playboy mansion.
Good luck finding real ones, so admire your favorite fake ones.
It's just too bad he denied it all those years. Otherwise, he would be granted a pass from me.

I never had any doubt that he was doping, but I don't really care. Many athletes, across multiple sports, are taking some sort of performance enhancer, cycling is no different at all.
It didn't train for him, or put all that work in, he's still a beast.
He is a liar though, not down with that shit.

yep..I'd have preferred that he exposed the sport a decade ago, said he was doping, but kept demonstrating that he can avoid detection, and keep killing it.
While the others are winning the same way he did, he faces feat after feat of dishonor. Now it was all for nothing. Every championship, because as he is burned at the stake, others are strangely vindicated because they haven't been caught yet.

Arguably the most arrogant sports figure of alltime. He smeared everyone that was close to him and painted a picture that everyone was out to get him. As someone who would stay home from school to watch one of the most dominant athletes of any generation, I can not forgive him as an athlete.
But for what he has done for cancer research and to those that are suffering from it I respect him for living with this lie while inspiring thousands of people to fight for their lives. It takes a huge set of elephant nuts to live with such a lie for almost 20 years.
imo, he wanted to make a difference in the way we view cancer and those suffering from it. Gave tremendous hope to those suffering from this horrible disease, he knew one day this would happen and didn't care if he got caught. He set out on a mission to show people that just because you have a disease like cancer doesn't mean you have to give up hope.
The "shadiest" figure head in recent memory but at the same time one of the biggest inspirations any generation has ever seen.

Either way, I have achieved a life long goal. I have now won the same amount of tour de France titles as Lance Armstrong.
Never thought it would happen. Now I just need a cameo in dodgeball and I am complete

lol sharp
my dad is a huge cycling fan and through him i have got into it quite a bit. so it's something which has been a topic of discussion that frequently.
while people shouldn't cheat, i still think lance armstrong is an amazing athlete. almost all cyclists are on drugs so to stand any chance of competing you have to be too. many cyclists have had their title taken away due to doping, but most of them are only known in continental europe. it just happens lance armstrong is a celebrity.
i think all cyclists involved in the major tours are phenomenal, and i will still think the same of lance armstrong.

Here is an example of a championship Natural Heavyweight bodybuilder:

Here is Jay Cutler. Roid infested heavyweight bodybuilder:

There are certain things where being natural, isn't the norm, and isn't providing you with what it takes to be the winner. If everyone is doped, then no one is at an advantage. Training then becomes the deciding factor...again.

wow that is disgusting
well yeh, the same goes for cycling.. none of the successful ones are natural anyway. they are born with a bigger lung capacity and a slower heart rate. so they're freaks of nature at birth :p

The fall of Lance will continue when his sponsors and promoters seek to recover money he earned as "champion". The first is $7.5M from SCA promotions.

Yeah, every time in he lost a race, he would accuse the winner of cheating and demand they were tested.
He was that anti drugs and cheating, that it became unthinkable that he was a cheat
Clever bastard
Hope Wiggins isn't in the same boat

Thing is, almost all top athletes dope.
You can't hate them for it, they do what others won't to achieve success. You can not dope, and be 2nd rate, or dope and be 1st class.
doping at collegiate and highschool levels is completely retarded, but at extreme levels, every sport is infested with it.
I'm not sure if tennis is though, but it probably is. It's weird considering #1 of tennis is 6'3 175 lbs

If everyone is doing it, fine. But you can certainly hate the ones who dope and kick the sht out of those who are clean.
IMO, it's like a hacker in COD. Dont' artifically enhance your 'skill' or strength and then act like you're any fcking good. You are enjoying an advantage others don't....and everyone should be free of drugs and compete on that level, which is why there are anti-doping bodies. Too bad they're complicit.
Saying they "do what others won't to achieve success" is such a sht way of looking at it.
Some poeple have integrity and want their hard work to be demonstrated in results.
I know stock brokers who would steal from their own grandma to achieve success. it's all the same.
Do it legit, or, if not legit, compete on a level field with your competitors, or fck off.

If eveyone is doing it though, and it's a "closed environment", meaning, no non-doped people are participating, then, let 'em at it.
I mean, it's the same sht really.

#30819If it's considering "cheating" though I'm assuming it's not allowed which I'm assuming since they're illegal in this country would be the case (unless prescribed of course). So this "closed environment" wouldn't be possible..
I see what you mean though. I just don't think it would be "cheating" if everyone was doing it and it was allowed.

Bit of a sweeping statement there! 99% of athletes dedicate their life to training hard, and striving to be the best they can. 1% cheat
In English football, there has never been anyone who has failed a drug test for steroids etc. Coke and weed, plenty of times. Maybe they are using advanced techniques which are undetectable. Doubt it though

I believe he used EPO, which allows your blood to carry more oxygen and thus, have a strong advantage in endurance based exercise
