Just spent a good half hour going through the archives here, and the thread I was looking for was on the old site...
I'd like to hear about what you're all taking, what it says it does, and what you experience as far as actual efficacy
include everything from protein powders to vitamins

I'll start:
Since starting BJJ, which seriously demolishes me every session, I've gone searching for something to help improve my ability to heal/recover. Since September, I don't think I've had a week where I wasn't bruised (all over my body, sometimes my face), sore as shit, and to the point where I have trouble walking for the few days after class.
until I started taking supplements
Morning:
Multivitamin taken with a protein shake (35g).
I use Nature's Plus "Source of Life Gold". Advertised as being easy to digest (no nausea) and a vitamin that gives you more energy throughout the day
I find that they're easy to digest (though they are pretty big pills), but no distinct difference in energy.

With Dinner:
Nature Made Burpless Fish Oil
Now this stuff is a f**king miracle. After taking it for a couple of weeks, the soreness I was getting from BJJ practically disappeared. I woke up the morning after my most recent class, and was moving around normally, when my wife said "you look like you're not sore at all", and then I realized that I wasn't. Seems like it takes some time to build up in your system, but once it does, it's one of the best supplements I've ever taken.

Before Bed:
Muscle Pharm ZMA Max
This is a strange supplement. I was looking for some zinc supplementation as it has anti-inflammatory properties and acts as an immune system booster. This has a combination of zinc, B6, Magnesium/Copper (two things you need to accentuate zinc), and melatonin
that's right, melatonin
this supplement is awesome
30 minutes after taking it, you're ready for bed, whether you like it or not
Knocks me out cold, and since starting to take it, I've slept the best that I've slept in YEARS. I have no idea if any of the other ingredients in it are doing anything at all, but the sleep makes it worth it (and is highly beneficial to recovery). It's supposed to be a libido/testosterone increasing agent, but I'd have no idea since I want to have sex all the time anyway. "Hey, guy who wants to f**k all day long, does this help libido?"
The only thing you have to watch out for, is how much zinc you're getting in one day. 7.5 mg per pill (I take two), that's 15 mg, and the upper limit for men is 40 mg of Zinc per day. So if you take this, you need to take two precautions:
1. Calculate your daily supplemental zinc intake (keep it at 40 mg or under, zinc poisoning sucks)
2. Take it on an empty stomach 20-40 minutes before you're ready to go to bed (food and calcium foods especially, will interfere with absorption)

If you want to read on it some more, this is what's in it. - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

After workout:
Creatine, arginie-akg, bcaa 2200
Dinner:
Energy Booster/Fat Burner - Fireball Liqui-Fusion
Before Bed:
Casein Ammino Acid Enchancer Shake
Helps fuel the muscles for 8 hours. So it's ready to go the next day. Thick Drink but works. It gives the muscles something to feed on.

i dont take any supplements. if i were to take something it would be straight protein powder.
back in 2008 i did a 45 day cycle of 3-AD, which is a "designer steroid" meaning that it WAS 100% legal due to it not actually being a steroid compound (when your body metabolizes it, it turns into pure testosterone) however now it is listed as a schedule 3 illegal drug.
in those 45 days i put on 15 pounds of solid muscle, my strength skyrocketed, and i had no side effects. my max bench press went from 205 to 250.

Taking now:
Multi-Pro 32X
L-Glutamine Peptide by German American technologies which I can no longer find at BB.com.
Protein Xtreme Formulations Ultra Peptide
Protein Max Blend 7 from Maximum Nutrition no link as it is proprietary and the store is in Folsom CA.
The Vitamin/Mineral is great I would say the best I have ever taken. as far as energy I am not sure that any vitamin sold outright or combination of vitamins that I have ever taken have ever given me any type of energy boost or long lasting energy through out the day.
Then again I think in order to truly test what your energy level is you probably should be clean for a month with no energy enhancing stuffs I.g, caffeine, mass loads of B12 or B vitamins.
That being said the only thing that has ever given me energy past my normal amount has been by taking Ephedra and caffeine.
Used to take:
L-Arginine and then to switch it up with A-AKG because I always felt that my body got used to the stuff. I also used to take Beta-Alanine but after taking a look at the stuff I was taking and its effects I determined that I never really felt it did much for me though this could have been because of my level of fitness.
There might have been some other stuff but I cannot remember now or it is now unavailable.
Have you tried taking Valerian Root and GABA? Not for energy but as a bedtime regimen.

Just left GNC. Went to restock C4, they only had 2 cans of Orange. Not want.
Got AC/G3 by PMD. Said its just as good with no skin burn. legs later to find out.

They gave 4 sample packs of the new Cellucor Super Sport protein. Most grams packed in serving, extremely lean. Didn't buy because it was $50 for 2lbs. Stuck with Muscle Milk.
